MUMBAI: The Supreme Court has hit the state associations where it hurts them the most, but some of them are ready to take that hit too instead of change their ways. The state associations have been asked to abide by the Lodha Committee’s recommendations if they want to continue receiving grants from the BCCI.

The SC in its interim order on October 6 asked the state units to give an undertaking in the court that they would implement recommendations if they want to receive BCCI grants.

While the BCCI has already refused to give an undertaking of unconditionally complying with the Lodha panel recommendations, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is planning to follow suit.

On Saturday, the MCA top brass met with its president Sharad Pawar at his residence to decide on the next course of action. “It was decided that we will not give any undertaking in the Supreme Court, at least till the next hearing takes place. We have already kept the funds received from the BCCI in term deposit as per the court’s order. We are okay; it doesn’t make much of a difference if we don’t use those `18 crore. We can run the show as usual. All our tournaments and local games will be held as per schedule,” a top MCA official told Hindustan Times.
