AIFF penalty same as Asia’s apex meet

The penalty for pulling out of a match in the Asian Champions League, the continent’s biggest football competition, is exactly what Mohun Bagan are now facing after refusing to play the second half of their I-League match against East Bengal on December 9.

The penalty for pulling out of a match in the Asian Champions League, the continent’s biggest football competition, is exactly what Mohun Bagan are now facing after refusing to play the second half of their I-League match against East Bengal on December 9.

According to Section 29 of the regulations of the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Champions League 2012, the penalty for a team that refuses to continue a match is disqualification from the next two editions of the competition.

The team will also be considered to have withdrawn from the current edition of the competition.
