Bhaichung Bhutia-owned United United Sikkim Football Club's hopes of making it to the main round of the Federation Cup football tournament were dashed on Sunday after they lost 0-1 to Royal Wahingdoh in a preliminary round match at the Mohun Bagan ground in Kolkata.

Kareem Nurain scored the match-winner for Wahingdoh in the 10th minute of the Group B match.

The Meghalaya-based team's chances of making it to the main round got brighter after today's win as they now lead their group with six points.

Southern Samity and USFC have three points each, while ONGC are yet to open their account.

Wahingdoh now need just a draw against ONGC to seal their berth in the main round.

In another Group B match, Southern Samity defeated ONGC 2-1 at the Howrah Stadium.

Southern Samity scored through Jamir Ali Mondal and Edmilson. For ONGC, Kenistan did pull one back in the 90th minute but it was too late.

On Monday, Mohammedan Sporting take on Goa's Vasco SC at the Kalyani Stadium in a crucial Group B match.
