Mohamed bin Hammam pulled out of the race for the presidency of football's world governing body FIFA on Sunday just hours before he was to face its ethics committee to answer bribery allegations.

Bin Hammam, 61, who launched his campaign on an anti-corruption platform and has waged a bitter war of words with current FIFA chief Sepp Blatter, said on his blog that he was withdrawing for the sake of FIFA's reputation.
