Former India goalkeeper Kalyan Chaubey claims he has a two-year contract (2008-09 and 2009-10) with Mumbai FC but has not received any payment for four months (April to July). Chaubey also says he has also not been informed anything about reporting for training.

“I am technically contracted with Mumbai FC and they have to pay my dues and fulfil the contractual obligations,” he told HT from Kolkata.

The player states he did not entertain offers from other clubs during the transfer season because he still had a year left on his contract. “Since I was in a very difficult situation, I sent them a letter that my dues be cleared. In reply, they are accusing me of double employment. I have written to them again and awaiting a reply.”

Asked whether he had informed the club about being employed with Income Tax, he answered in the affirmative. “I had informed the club that I was employed with IT and granted permission to participate in the inter-office tournaments for the last two years,” Chaubey said.

The goalkeeper feels having a copy of the contract is very important. “Fortunately I have one. Many players have suffered because of this,” he added.
