Former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero will play the deciding rubber of holders Spain's Davis Cup quarter-final tie against Germany in Marbella on Sunday.

Ferrero, who replaced the injured David Ferrer in the defending champions' squad originally, and was a late replacement for Tommy Robredo in the singles on Sunday, is to play Andreas Beck.

Earlier on Sunday, Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber defeating ninth-ranked Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 6-2, 1-6, 2-6, 8-6 to level the match at 2-2. The winners of the tie will face Israel in September's semi-finals.
