Reactions poured in on Tuesday after Hindustan Times reported how the boys, who live in the red light districts of Kolkata, may not be able to go make the trip because of paucity of funds, R 1.5 lakh to be precise.

"A lady called us from Delhi today and offered to pay for the expenses of both the boys. We have sent her our bank account number and waiting for the funds to arrive," said Swarajit Jana, chief advisor of the NGO that looks after their education and upkeep.

Though the exact sum of the money promised is not known, Jana said they are expecting the entire expenses to be covered.

Hindustan Times also received a mail from a businessman who has expressed wish to help the boys.

All expenses during the World Cup are borne by the Homeless World Cup authorities once the team reaches the venue. But for most teams, airfare and other expenses have to be arranged for separately.
