Jelena Jankovic led Serbia into the Fed Cup's World Group for the first time by beating Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Sunday in a playoff for an unbeatable 3-0 lead over Spain in the best-of-five series.

Jelena Jankovic led Serbia into the Fed Cup's World Group for the first time by beating Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Sunday in a playoff for an unbeatable 3-0 lead over Spain in the best-of-five series.

Jankovic overcame a cold to beat Medina Garrigues in a close match that knocked five-time Fed Cup champion Spain out of the competition's top group for the first time.

Jankovic dominated as Medina Garrigues had 19 unforced errors in the opening set, including four straight in the ninth game. Medina Garrigues broke Jankovic in the second set while leading 4-3, and then held to send the match into the deciding set. Jankovic then led 3-1 and 5-3 before serving out for the win.
