Jordan has launched a probe into clashes that injured dozens of people as a stampede caused an iron railing to collapse at a football match in the capital, the government said on Saturday.
The probe would look into what triggered the incidents after Friday night's game between fierce rivals Al-Wehdat and Al-Feisali, Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Safadi said.
"The government will monitor the results of the investigation and any legal action will be taken against those who broke the law and caused these unfortunate events," he said, quoted by the official news agency Petra.
Safadi said the troubles broke out after spectators threw stones outside the Qawasmeh stadium, leaving about 150 people injured including 25 security officers and 11 people who were hospitalised.
Police had said on Friday night that the unrest broke out when people outside hurled stones into the stadium at fans who were leaving.
"The fans panicked, and in the stampede to get out the iron fence fell over," a police spokesman told AFP, initially reporting that as many as 250 people were injured.

Wehdat beat Feisali 1-0 in the match at Quweismeh in east Amman.
Feisali's players are mainly Jordanian, while Wehdat are mostly Jordanians of Palestinian origin and seen as representing the more than 1.8 million Palestinian refugees living in the kingdom.
Clashes often occur at matches between the rival teams.
