Last year, two companies — RLF and United Leasing Limited — had applied for CLU for setting up an international tennis academy in 6.85 acres in Jundsarai village, at 14km stone, Gurgaon-Pataudi Road.

The land belongs to the companies, which are owned by the family of Anil Khanna, president of the All India Tennis Association.

Earlier, the government had agreed in principal to approve the project and had even consented to 50% floor area ratio (FAR).

The Gurgaon Town and Country Planning Department had forwarded the case to its head office in Chandigarh. But, now, the case has been put on the backburner.

"The head office has raised some objections and till date the CLU has not been granted," said a senior official based in the Gurgaon Town and Country Planning Department. "It has been put on hold."

Vij had said that the Congress-led government was turning the Town and Country Planning Department into an industrial unit that churns out CLU as per their whims and fancies.
