MUMBAI: Konnark FC staved off a spirited challenge from Flash FC to snatch a narrow 1-0 victory in a league match of the Colaba Sports League played at the Cooperage.

Despite both sides managing to create chances, the first session ended goalless.
However, after switching ends, Konnark got the decisive breakthrough when midfielder Navin Negi coolly beat rival custodian Sagar Pagdhare and scored the lone goal of the match.
Midfielder Floyd Dharmai was declared as the ‘Player of the match’. In the second match, Hirai Suns prevailed over Shark FC 5-3 via the tie-breaker after the game ended in an exciting 2-2 draw.
Hekmat Singh and Jiten Bhoir were on target for Hirai Suns while Prakash Khatti and skipper Anil Pawar scored the goals for Shark FC to force the penalty shootout.
In the tie- breaker Karim Shaikh, Hekmat and Sushil Kawde converted for Hirai, while only Anil Pawar could score for Sharks.
QUALIFIER KADAM UPSETS PATEL
MUMBAI: Qualifier Shivam Kadam of Maharashtra upset seventh seed Dhanush Patel of Gujarat to advance to the boys’ pre-quarterfinals in the 10th Ramesh Desai Memorial Yonex Sunrise-MSLTA U-12 National Tennis Championship, held at the Cricket Club of India.
Kadam eased past Patel 6-0, 6-3 to book a clash with MP’s Deep Munim. Eighth seed Atharva Shinde endured a gruelling three-set encounter before rallying to a 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 win over Aayush Bhat of Karnataka.
