Stuttgart dropped goalkeeper Jens Lehmann from its squad on Monday for a German Cup match after he made an unauthorized visit to the Oktoberfest, Munich's annual beer celebration.

Stuttgart dropped goalkeeper Jens Lehmann from its squad on Monday for a German Cup match after he made an unauthorized visit to the Oktoberfest, Munich's annual beer celebration.

Stuttgart will face fourth-division Luebeck on Wednesday without Lehmann, a former Germany 'keeper.

Stuttgart coach Markus Babbel said he and sporting director Horst Heldt plan to discuss the issue on Thursday with Lehmann. Lehmann said his visit to the Oktoberfest, which came hours after Stuttgart lost at home to FC Cologne 2-0, was part of a charity event and had long been planned.

"However, this was not agreed with the club," Lehmann said. "Of course, I accept the sporting management's measure."
