Sharapova into last 16 at French Open

Second seed Maria Sharapova defeats compatriot Alla Kudryavtseva in straight sets to reach the fourth round at Roland Garros.

Second seed Maria Sharapova reached the last 16 of the French Open on Saturday by defeating Russian compatriot Alla Kudryavtseva 6-1, 6-4.

Sharapova will play either Patty Schnyder of Switzerland or Karin Knapp of Italy for a place in the quarter-finals.
