South China FC left English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur reeling from a 2-0 loss in Hong Kong on Sunday. A 25-yard half-volley from Chan Siu Ki and a penalty from skipper Li Haiqiang shocked the weary Spurs side. South China started brightly and looked much sharper than their illustrious opponents.

Chan opened the scoring when he picked up a loose ball seven minutes after the interval and fired an unstopppable shot into the net over Heurelho Gomez.

The game was sealed in the 69th minute when referee NG Chiu Kok controversially ruled Chao Peng Fei had been brought down in the box.

Skipper Li knocked the ball in from the penalty spot after Gomez went the wrong way to complete a fantastic result for South China in front of a 23,000-strong crowd at Hong Kong Stadium.
