It was a day of upsets at the $10,000 ITF Women's tournament, being held at DLTA, on Tuesday. Four seeds bowed out of the tournament which included second-seeded Rushmi Chakravarthi.

While Chakravarthi was beaten 0-6, 1-6 by Austria's Patricia Haas, fourth-seeded Ashvarya Shrivastava lost 7-5, 0-6, 3-6 after a three-hour-six-minute struggle against unseeded Ratnika Batra. Delhi girl Batra set up a second round date with Nidhi Chilumula after the difficult win.
Joining the list was Mexico's Nadia Abdala. Seeded third in the tournament, the 22-year-old was ousted 4-6, 5-7 by Desiree Bastianon of Belgium.
It was an easy outing for last week's ITF meet winner Zhaoxuan Yang.
The 16-year-old Chinese braved the heat to thrash seventh seeded Ankita Raina 6-0, 6-2.
Yang, who is aiming for a back-to-back victory, will take on Garima Vatwani in the second round.
