Punjabi pop singer Mika has “gone into hiding” after item girl Rakhi Sawant lodged an FIR with the Oshiwara police alleging that he forcibly kissed her at his birthday party at Andheri on Saturday night.
Mika, younger brother of pop singer Daler Mehndi, has been charged with assault and outraging the modesty of a woman under sections 323 and 354 of the IPC.
Additional Commissioner of Police Bipin Bihari said that Mika had left the city when the police went to his Oshiwara home on Sunday. They, instead, found a young girl, who claimed to be his fan, living there.
“In such cases, we take the woman’s statement to be genuine, but an arrest is not necessary. We will initiate appropriate action, but for that Mika should cooperate with us,” Bihari said.
According to the police, Rakhi was invited to Mika’s birthday at the restaurant Someplace Else. At around 2 am, while she was dancing with her friends, the singer allegedly kissed her against her will.
“Mika and know each other for the last a few years. Since he had invited me to the party, I dropped by. But, instead of the customary greeting — like a hug or peck on the cheek — Mika kissed me (on the lips) forcibly,” said Sawant.

{{/usCountry}}“Mika’s bodyguards also roughed up my foster brother when he demanded an explanation for his misbehaviour,” she added.
Rakhi has demanded an apology from the singer. If he doesn’t, she plans to pursue the complaint till Mika is prosecuted.
This is not the first time Rakhi has been subjected to physical assault. In 2005, during a show in Dubai, some people from the audience climbed onto the stage and misbehaved. She was banned from performing there after that.
