With no sign of the stand-off on dance bars being settled in the near future, jobless bar girls in the "City of Taj" -- Agra have opted to bring village weddings alive with their curvaceous dances and romps on the stage floor.

With most them coming into the city from Mumbai, where dance bars for all practical purposes have been closed following a Maharashtra Government ban, these bar girls have taken to the wedding floor like duck to water, swaying to popular Bollywood tunes as their "dry season" passes by.

Most of these weddings have at least three bar girls, attired in dazzling clothes and jewellery, dancing on tractor trolley supported stages.

Participation of bar girls in these weddings is through Chitrashalas or art drama houses, a majority of which have cropped up along the Agra-Fatehabad Road.

The dance bar girls are not too happy with their lot. Capable of earning upwards of Rs.5000 per night in Mumbai, they are getting just Rs.800 to Rs.1200 in Agra. The sharp drop in income not withstanding, these bar girls say that they are biding their time and waiting for the Supreme Court to act on the ban.
