If I refuse a film, how will I survive?” she said while she was in the Capital for the 12th Osian’s Cinefan Film Festival of Indian, Asian and Arab Cinema. Having a reputation for mostly taking up unconventional films and roles, the 47-year-old also has reason for not being called by Hindi filmmakers. “Mainstream Bollywood filmmakers don’t come to me because I’m not good looking. For Bollywood, you need some kind of glamour which I know I don’t have,” she said.

When asked if she doesn’t mind being remembered mostly for her debut flick Bandit Queen, Biswas said, “I should not be stamped for just one film. Just because it was my first film and it had a great plot and controversy associated with it, people tend to remember you for your character.” Rumours are rife that Bandit Queen 2 is in the making too, with Biswas in the lead. The actor, however, pleads ignorance. “There have been talks but I have no clue about it. I haven’t signed any such project yet,” said the actor, who will be next seen in films such as Society, Midnight’s Children, Sher, Manjunath and Chaar Footiya Chokra.
