Rain forced an early finish to play on the first day of the French Open on Sunday with only 10 of the scheduled 32 matches completed.

Almost three hours were lost in the afternoon at a chilly Roland Garros before play resumed.
However, after just 30 minutes of further action, the rain returned and a stoppage for the night was called.
Among the completed matches, Australia’s Nick Kyrgios advanced to the second round with a 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6), 6-4 win over Italy’s Marco Cecchinato, receiving a code violation for screaming at a ball boy along the way. The volatile Aussie termed the penalty an “unbelievable” bias.
Two-Time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova survived a scare to beat Danka Kovinic of Montenegro 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.
