Bengal BJP leaders said that Friday’s meeting was held to review the Bengal poll preparedness against the backdrop of the report five central leaders prepared for Shah. Induction of leaders from the Trinamool Congress and other parties was also discussed at the meeting, said a BJP leader.

Stones were hurled at the cars and the leader was shown black flags, the workers said. While nobody was injured, three cars were damaged, they said. A team of officers were able to bring the situation under control.

The BJP said the man, Madan Ghorui, was a party supporter and alleged that he died because of torture in judicial custody. This triggered a legal battle at the Calcutta High Court and Ghorui’s body was sent back to the morgue hours after it was handed over to his family following post mortem examination.
