Defamation case: LIP’s Bains appears in court after non-bailable warrants, gets bail

Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) president and Atam Nagar MLA Simarjeet Singh Bains on Tuesday appeared in a Patiala court after he was issued non-bailable warrants in a defamation case filed by Punjab local bodies minister Brahm Mohindra. The court of judicial magistrate Nidhi Saini granted bail to the MLA and fixed March 6 as the next date of hearing.

In Chennai, special court acquits Vaiko in 2006 defamation case

The case pertains to Vaiko accusing Karunanidhi of attempting to split the MDMK and also writing a letter to then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, complaining about this. And the DMK which was in power at that time filed a defamation case under Sections 499 and 500 of the IPC.

Kejriwal withdraws pleas from Delhi HC for quashing criminal defamation cases

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday withdrew from the Delhi high court his pleas seeking quashing of separate criminal defamation proceedings initiated against him by former aides of Congress leader Sheila Dikshit.
