As the demolition exercise began, the Hyderabad police cordoned off all the routes leading to the secretariat and imposed traffic restrictions for about a kilometre radius from the work site by erecting barricades.

Residents vow to fight HC order on demolitions in Sukhna catchment area

A week after the Punjab and Haryana high court ordered demolition of all constructions in the catchment area of Sukhna Lake, more than 2,500 residents of affected areas held a meeting in Kansal on Sunday and decided to fight the orders. Calling it a “cold-hearted” judgment, Kansal residents’ welfare association president HS Oberoi said: “Does the court has any idea where the residents will go if their houses are demolished? We will fight this decision.

Kerala says no demolitions for CRZ violations now after Kochi, assures Vembanad lake properties

The state government had last week filed an affidavit in the High Court in another case related to growing pollution in Vembanad Lake saying that it issued notices to 625 waterfront properties for violating CRZ norms including 383 buildings in Ernakualm, 212 in Alappuzha and 30 buildings in Kottayam.

Demolition of Kochi flats to begin on Oct 11, three bidders shortlisted

In the last hearing on September 27, the Supreme Court had directed the state to demolish these flats in 138 days. The state government tried its best to avoid demolition but later fell in line after the apex court threatened to start contempt proceeding against it for not implementing its May verdict.

Kerala Govt to book builders of Kochi flats scheduled for demolition

The Maradu municipality issued a fresh notice to occupants of the flats saying both water and power connections would be cut in two days and advised them to shift at the earliest. But the residents stood their ground saying they will not shift on their own.

On Monday, the division bench of justices SC Dharmadhikari and Gautam Patel said it will not allow petitioners to use courts granting stays as excuses to remain in dilapidated buildings.
