23 old buildings in Mumbai to be razed, residents blame owners

Mumbai’s Dongri building collapse highlights: One woman rescued from debris

A part of four-storey building, which is believed to be 100 years old, collapsed in south Mumbai’s Dongri area on Tuesday morning around 11:40 am. At least 14 people have been declared dead, and many are still feared to be trapped under the debris. The NDRF officials confirmed the rise in the death toll on Wednesday and said the rescue operation is still underway. While rescuing people trapped in the rubble of Kesarbai building in south Mumbai’s Dongri area, bringing machines to the spot is one of major challenges being faced as JCB machine cannot enter the overcrowded area due to narrow lanes.Follow updates here:

Mumbai building collapse highlights: Rescue ops to continue through the night, debris being removed manually

At least 10 have been reported dead, eight injured and over two dozen are feared trapped in rubble after a 100-year-old building in Mumbai’s Dongri area collapsed on Tuesday. The collapse was reported at 11:40 am in the morning and the officials have said that nearly 40-50 people are feared to be trapped. Three teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and fire tenders were rushed to the spot to carry out the rescue operations which are underway.Confirming that the building is 100 years old, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said that the state government has ordered an investigation into the building collapse.Follow highlights here:
