Varavara Rao released from hospital after Covid treatment; back in jail

Varavara Rao was first taken to JJ Hospital on May 28 after he fell unconscious, but was discharged on June 1. The family had alleged that Rao was discharged in a hurried manner to obstruct his bail plea.

Mumbai’s JJ Hospital to soon test 2.2K samples for Covid-19, highest in India

Maharashtra has already increased its testing capacity to over 10,000 per day. So far, the state has 48 laboratories, including 29 in government set-ups and the 19 laboratories run by private companies. After Monday’s meeting, the lab strength went up to 50, as two more government labs have been added.

RTI query: 1 in 6 ventilators at JJ Hospital not functional

Out of 83 ventilators at the hospital, 15 are non-functional. While 12 are undergoing repair, spare parts of three ventilators. which were donated by the Japanese government, are not available.
