Leena Manimekalai reveals threat messages: ‘Film poster not crime. This is’

Filmmaker Leena Manimekalai posted the screenshots of the threats she received online in the wake of the Kaali controversy. "Delhi Police, Lucknow Police, Guwahati Police and etc... you let this guy to attack me and follow me with FIR?" she tweeted. 

Leena Manimekalai, embroiled in Kaali controversy, said she is confident that she has the support of more people than the ‘mercenary-oiled bigotry’.

'My Kaali is queer': Leena Manimekalai amid controversy over film poster

Leena Manimekalai who identifies herself as bisexual and atheist said in her film Goddess Kaali inhabits in her body and wanders the city streets. "My Kaali is queer. She is a free spirit. She spits at the patriarchy. She dismantles Hindutva. She destroys capitalism. She embraces everyone with all her thousand hands," she said.

Leena Manimekalai is embroiled in a controversy her film poster has stoked by showing a woman dressed as Goddess Kaali smoking.

Kaali poster row: Fresh FIR filed against filmmaker Leena Manimekalai, 10 others

The FIR was filed at Kankhal police station on the complaint of Vikram Singh Rathore of Hindu Yuva Vahini under section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code
