The Lok Sabha has organised the two-day conference at the banks of the Narmada River to celebrate the Constitution Day. The theme of the event is “Harmonious Coordination Between Legislature, Executive and Judiciary - Key to a Vibrant Democracy.”
As per an official release, 10.70 lakh cusec (cubic foot per second) water is being discharged into the river by opening 23 of SSD’s 30 radial gates.(PTI)

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday conducted an aerial survey of villages hit by floods in Madhya Pradesh and the hailstorm-hit parts along the Narmada river.
The minister said he had ordered for the installation of CCTVs along the routes leading to the river and asked police to take action if trucks are found overloaded.(PTI)

Narmada, which originates from Amarkantak in Anuppur district in MP and merges in Gulf of Khambhat (Arabian Sea) in Gujarat after traversing a distance of 1,312 kilometres, was declared a “living entity” in May, 2017 by the MP government.

The Narmada’s water level has gone past the 31 feet mark due to discharge of over 7 lakh cusec of water from the Sardar Sarovar Dam (SSD) upstream. The river was flowing at 31.25 feet, three feet above the danger mark of 28 feet, at Golden Bridge.
