HRD seeks CBI probe into public fund ‘misuse’ in NIT Manipur construction

The construction work started at NIT Manipur in 2011 at an approved cost of Rs 250 crore. The NIT, located at Langol Hills, however, breached the Rs 250-crore limit and a a revised proposal was put up before the ministry’s expenditure finance committee in May last year, according to the official.

The government has issued an order to shift 625 students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar, Uttarakhand, to a satellite campus at the Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur to decongest the campus in the hill state, officials familiar with the matter said.
