Kerala’s real estate sector to finally get its regulator K-RERA on January 1

Baldi to head RERA in HP

Himachal Pradesh chief secretary Shrikant Baldi will become the first chairman of the state’s Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)—a statuatory body aimed to protect the interest of home buyers and keep check on the realtors. Baldi will assume charge after his retirement on December 31.

UP Rera cancels registration of five stuck realty projects in Gautam Budh Nagar

According to the law, the Rera has the right to deregister a project if the developer abandons it. After deregistration, a developer loses control of the project and the Rera has the right to either transfer rights to buyers or to a new developer.

Rera conducted an inspection of Aranya, along with buyers, in Sector 119 to check the current status of the project. Similarly, the Rera team has in the past inspected the sites of other six projects to check the current status. The regulator has tried to help the promoters of these seven projects so that they deliver during the trial.

The decision comes after the promoters of these seven projects failed to deliver flats as per promises made to the homebuyers. The promoters are either out of country or not turning up to take up the responsibility, officials said. This is the first time that Rera has taken this step to help buyers get their flats in the stuck projects, Balvinder Kumar, member of Rera, said.

The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority said that the responsibility of forming apartment owners’ association (AOA) for different housing projects falls on the project builder. The authority also said that the builder has to form the AOA within three months of most owners shifting to the flats.
