Six members of family hurt in cylinder blast in Delhi

The 19-year-old and her mother had gone to the fields on September 14, and the young woman went missing soon after. She was later found, having been raped, beaten and tortured and her tongue cut after she bit down on it when the rapists tried to strangle her, according to the police account.

The seven-day case fatality ratio (CFR) – the fraction of people who died among those who tested positive – has gone up to 1%. The average seven-day CFR has been increasing steadily over the last two weeks, from just 0.68% recorded 14 days ago.

Delhi deaths hit 5,000; India sees 100k daily recoveries

According to Monday’s government health bulletin, 2,548 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in the Capital to 249,259. The infection has killed a total of 5,014 people till Sunday, while 213,304 people have recovered.

The woman, who suffered injuries on her ear, neck, chest, and stomach in the attack, was rushed to a private hospital in the city and later referred to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi. A surgery was performed on her but her condition was still stated to be critical, said police on Wednesday evening.

Delhi: 44% decline in Covid-19 deaths in early July compared to early June
