Sara Ali Khan was born in Bombay, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan. She is the granddaughter of Sharmila Tagore. She is a graduate from Columbia University, USA with history and political sciences as her majoring subjects.Sara debuted as an actor in 2018 with Kedarnath opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and then with Simmba, opposite Ranveer Singh. She won Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her debutant performance. She appeared in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list in 2019.
