Surender Gill (7 points), Shrikant Jadhav (9 points) and Rishank Devadiga (8 points) all stepped up for the UP side as they overcame a stiff challenge from the season one champions to jump to fifth place on the points table.
Yoddha grabbed three quick points at the start of the match but Steelers raider Kandola exuded confidence. Soon Steelers were in the lead and Vikash was having a good day in the Yoddha’s side of the pitch.
Nitesh Kumar came up with one of the best defensive performances and scored 8 points to lead UP to victory. UP Yoddha’s defence scored 18 tackle points on a night where they tamed U Mumba’s star raider Siddharth Desai.
Pardeep Narwal opened his account to give Patna Pirates the lead for the first time in the match in the 9th minute. Manjeet scored with a two-point raid in the 13th minute to give Patna Pirates 11-9 lead.
UP Yoddha’s raiders found a bit tough to get going in the first half as they trailed 9-13 after 15 minutes. Rishank Devadiga had three points but didn’t get too much support from the likes of Shrikant Jadhav.
Telugu Titans registered second win on the trot as they beat UP Yoddha 34-29 in Pro Kabaddi league match on Saturday. It was a team effort by the Titans who had Rahul Chaudhari and Nilesh Salunke chipping in with raid points, while Abozar Mighani and Vishal Bhardwaj kept the UP Yoddha raiders quiet for most of the match. Prashanth Kumar Rai was the top scorer with 11 points for UP Yoddha but his effort went in vain.
For UP Yoddha, Shrikant Jadhav scored 12 points but it was a case of so close yet so far. The difference between the teams was also their defensive strength. While Patna Pirates scored 11 tackle points, UP Yoddha got just seven points.
