Police have decided to conduct an extensive inspection of school buses in Patiala district to ensure fire safety systems are installed and other are norms followed in school buses, in the wake of fire in a van that charred four children to death at Longowal village in Sangrur district on Saturday.

Yamuna Expressway bus accident: Non-functional GPS device, no record of speed
Officials said the GPS device fitted into the bus was not functioning and the vehicle had no connection with the VTS at the UPSRTC headquarters at the time it fell into a drain.

Speed governors must on school buses by September 30
The regional transport department officials said nearly 1,600 school buses and another nearly 25,000 commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, etc will have to mandatorily install these devices to restrict the speed up to 60kmph and 80kmph for different category of vehicles.
