Four out of 20 episodes of Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Yudh have already been aired, but this Anurag Kashyap offering on TV has not really picked up pace.
If the audience is tuning in at 10.30pm, credit it more to the pull of the stars and less to the intriguing storyline.
Watch: The making of Yudh

For the larger sake of creativity in Indian television industry, celebs should not be the only reason for us to stay hooked.
Much on the lines of Anil Kapoor's adaptation of 24,
was promoted as a bold step on India television — an area where only tears and
saas-bahu
soaps get TRPs for the channels and producers.
Most of us crib about the quality of shows on Indian TV and lack of better directors/writers in the industry. However, even for a creative adaptation like 24, the TRPs do not really match those of the run-of-the-mill
rona-dhona
soaps.
We like slamming Ekta Kapoor and the likes on social media but go back to watching the same shows.
What can Anurag really gain with Yudh? Nothing more than respect for his creativity, space for more experiments and courage for creative heads.

Going by the pace that
has progressed, it is unlikely to get any trend-changing viewership (TAM ratings). If Yudh, however, does not end up like a complete desi spin-off of Breaking Bad or other popular English TV shows, it will be a success.
Qualitative appreciation is all that this Amitabh Bachchan-Kay Kay Menon-Tigmanshu Dhulia-Sarika-starrer should aim for.
Much like the Anil Kapoor-Shaban Azmi-Anupam Kher-starrer 24, Yudh might end up being one of the most-awaited shows on Indian TV. It may not be watched by millions, but will not follow the much-treaded path just for the sake of TRPs.
When names like Amitabh and Anurag succeed, there will be more experiments and maybe in a few years, such shows will also get TRPs, enabling producers to invest their money without worrying about the profits.
