Mandira Bedi, who recently wrapped up her hosting assignment on Star Plus’ singing reality show, Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar 2 (JJWS), is now taking a breather. She has been offered two shows — one as an anchor, the other as a participant. “But I can’t reveal the names till I sign them.” Does she mean Bigg Boss? Mandira vehemently denies it. “No. I would never do Bigg Boss.
It has worked for many people. Their careers have taken off after the show. Many have gone there to mend fences or show the world their true selves. But I find it very manipulative. I don’t see myself being in an experiment of any sort.” But she did experiment with her hair in JJWS, sporting a short crop along with halter neck blouses and saris in the early episodes.
Later, she wore hair extensions, perhaps for a more Indian look. While some fans didn’t mind that, many found it odd and out of place. The change came about during a devotional theme episode. Mandira explains, “I was wearing a conservative sari with a bindi, but it didn’t work. That was the turning point for both the channel and me as we had run out of variations in the short hair-sari look.”
Mandira says her short hair will stay as it’s more her personality, but the long extensions are a good change. She got varied reactions for the new look. “Many people like me with short hair. Some friends can’t imagine me with long hair. But on Twitter, there’s a whole section of people have loved the new look.” The host-actor admits that the singing reality show, JJWS didn’t fare well this season.

{{/usCountry}}“The ratings weren’t as high as last season. I wouldn’t know why. I think probably it was the weekend slot. Last season, JJWS aired on Thursday-Friday and in spite of IPL, we got good ratings. Personally, I feel families want to go out on weekends, so I wasn’t excited about this slot.
