If you thought only the armed forces and the police could fight terrorism, this TV show aims to change that. Dadagiri Three Commando Force challenges reality contestants to take on terror.
When asked why this theme was chosen for season three, Nikhil Gandhi, business head of UTV Bindaas, says “While conceptualising the new season, we realised that the biggest fear we face in today’s world is terrorism. So we decided to create commandos and give a purpose to this show.
We wanted to tell people that they can stand up and fight terrorism and make them aware of what can be done if they have to face a situation like this.”
Training to be tough
Three ex-army commandos trained the 14 contestants at a camp for 45 days where they were forced to stay without the luxury of king-sized beds in air-conditioned rooms.
Speaking about the bike rally held by them on Friday, Gandhi says “We were glad that the Indian judiciary made this decision quickly. As a mark of respect to the fact that justice prevails in our country, we had the rally, incorporating it into the theme of our show. We got about 100 bikers to cover all the affected areas of the 26/11 attack.”
No one wins
Talking about the show, he adds, “This is unlike any other reality show. There is no elimination, all contestants will remain until the end of the show. The winner will be decided purely on the basis of how he or she has performed throughout the show. The contestants will be expected to face terror-like situations and kill the enemy using real machines, but fake ammunition to avoid any fatal accidents.”

When the topic of the finale was brought up, Gandhi refused to divulge any details. However, he says, “It is currently being shot and is absolutely in sync with reality. We are confident that it will come out the way we have planned.”
Gandhi gives us a sneak preview of the show, saying, “We intend to make ‘combating terrorism’ the main theme. We realised that it is not something we can start and stop in one season. The only thing that might change is the scenario that the contestants will face.
We do have some ideas, but I can’t comment on those right now. We definitely are looking forward for the forthcoming seasons of Dadagiri.
