David Letterman to visit India

Expected to interview Indian celebs, and may even do a desi version of Late Show With David Letterman. Jennifer Connelly, Tina Fey, Hillary Swank and Paris Hilton will be on his show for Women’s Day.

David Letterman, popular host of Late Show With David Letterman, is expected to arrive in India soon. BIG CBS Network, which airs his show in India simultaneously with its current season in the USA, has started working out the logistics for his visit to the country.

Aparnaa Pande, GM, BIG CBS Network, says, “It’s definitely a possibility that David will be coming down to India. But that will require a lot of work on the logistics, which we’ll start working on next month. We also plan to bring down other US TV celebrities to India soon.” Buzz also is that whenever Letterman arrives in India over the next few months, he may either record a couple of episodes with Indian celebrities, or host an Indian version of his popular celebrity chat show, which has been running since August 1993 on CBS, and is produced by his company Worldwide Pants Incorporated.

“If we had to do our own version of Late Show With David Letterman, we will have to organise heavy monetary investments for it because we cannot compromise on the show’s production value. That will take a lot of time to plan and schedule. That a show of this kind can happen in India is always a possibility,” adds Pande.

“We’ve chosen some women achievers who need no introduction,” states Pande, adding that her channel or the show doesn’t cater to a niche audience in India. “Neither Women’s Day nor our show is an unknown concept in our society. ‘Niche’ is therefore a misleading word to use for David’s show, and the special occasion in question.”
