Even after 200 films, I take time to get over characters: Ashish Vidhyarthi

Actor Ashish Vidhyarthi who has been a part of over 200 films, says it takes him some time to get out of his characters.

Actor Ashish Vidhyarthi — who made his Bollywood debut two decades back — says he has a hard time getting out of the psyche of his characters, once the shooting wraps up.

“I’ve been part of 200 films, but when I play a character, I get immersed in it. And it’s tough for me to come out of it, even after the shooting wraps. You get into a different zone and gradually, you become normal,” says the actor, who has done films such as Drohkaal (1994), Major Saab (1998) and LOC: Kargil (2003). He will now feature in the second season of actor Anil Kapoor’s popular TV series 24.

Vidhyarthi loves his job and doesn’t worry about the response of the audience. “As actors, we do our job. Obviously, once you are part of a project, you want it to be loved by the audience. But that’s not why we do them. We take up projects that we believe in. There are times you come on board because it makes you push the envelope,” he says.

About roles he wants to take up, the actor says, “I have worked across parallel industries. I look for parts, not projects. Nothing is off the table for me. I love to be excited about my work and that’s what makes me take up different roles.”
