Last month, the show’s producers had confirmed that the upcoming seventh season will only last seven episodes. This led to speculation that the seventh season could also be the end of the show, which has won 26 Primetime Emmy Awards till date.

With clarity that there will be a final eighth season, several fans breathed a sigh of relief that the show isn’t ending in 2017.
