If you think you can catch actor Iqbal Khan off-guard by probing him about the reason behind his absence from television for more than a year now, you are mistaken, because this actor is very sure about what he’s doing and why.

“I have a daughter, who’s just turned two so I deliberately took a sabbatical after her birth to give her more time. Taking care of a baby can’t only be a mother’s responsibility,” says the Jammu-born actor in his impressive baritone.

The 32-year-old, who was last seen in the family drama Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli will now be seen playing the lead, Anshuman in Life Ok’s upcoming show, Tumhari Paakhi that starts in November.

Ask Khan about the grey shades of his role and he says, “I wouldn’t call it grey. Anshuman’s character is very real and that’s what attracted me. He’s not a fake goody-goody type, he’s got his mood swings, he gets mad sometimes... in real life too one cannot be happy all the time,” says Khan, who had recently rejected several prominent roles such as the older version of Maharana Pratap and another prominent character on an ongoing TV show.
