Rithvik Dhanjani’s TV career has seen the kind of trajectory that not many actors can boast of. From a supporting role in Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani to playing the lead in Pavitra Rishta (PV) and hosting Yeh Hai Aashiqui (YHA), his rise to fame has been meteoric in the past three years. Currently, the young actor is competing in the popular dance reality show, Nach Baliye (NB), with girlfriend Asha Negi. In this interview, he talks about his relationship and career.

How do you juggle three shows?
It’s difficult. But I’m not picking any random projects. NB was for Asha as I wanted her to be in a reality (show) space. I love being an anchor, as it gives you a chance to be yourself.

Are films next?
Yes, I’d like to be part of out-of-the-box films like Shahid. I see myself being part of realistic cinema.

When you finally admitted to dating Asha, were you anxious about public judgment?
We knew people would say ‘They were just pretending, but we knew all along.’ Rumours never bothered me.

You lost Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Is the desire to win a driving force for you to be in another dance reality show now?
I took up the show because I wanted people to know Asha. With her, I hope to achieve it (victory) this time. But there’s too much pressure. In the first episode, we had a difficult dance routine. While performing, we banged into each other and hurt ourselves. I don’t want to relive that moment. But it also showed us the depth of our feelings for each other.

What are you most insecure about in this relationship?
We both have a temper. She has a short fuse, while I stay angry for a longer time. I hope nothing ever comes between us. This relationship is serious for me.
