Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa gave me exposure, says Shantanu Maheshwari

Actor-dancer-choreographer Shantanu Maheshwari is trying to pick up the dance form by watching YouTube videos.

Actor-dancer Shantanu Maheshwari of Dil Dosti Dance fame says dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa was the right platform for him to showcase his dance prowess, and it made him a household name.

Shantanu Maheshwari says he always wanted to learn the dance form.

“The show gave me a lot of exposure. Now, not only the young generation, but people of all age groups recognise me. I received a lot of love and appreciation for my dancing. I can never forget the praise I got from judges Karan Johar and Jacqueline Fernandez.It made me believe in myself more than before,” says Shantanu, who considers Bollywood and Hip Hop genre as his forte.

He is learning tap dance these days. “I always wanted to learn tap dancing but could find a proper trainer in India. For now, I’m relying on YouTube videos,” says Shantanu, who, along with his troupe, recently visited Delhi for their first dance workshop.

He was overwhelmed with the response and the turnout, given that this was his first ever workshop here. “We had made an announcement on social media, and the turnout was great. There’s immense talent in the city in terms of dancing and we had a lovely time during the workshop. If things fall in place, we’ll hold more such workshops in the city in the near future,” adds Shantanu, who was recently in news for his futuristic short film, Something Like Love.
