For someone like Karan Tacker, who never enjoyed dancing nor was confident on stage, falling in love with the art was a surprise. And if he has to thank one person for inspiring him to become a dancer, it would be choreographer Remo D’Souza.

“When I was a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Remo sir was one of the judges. Being a non-dancer, every time I performed, he used to deduct my marks and point out my mistakes. Lesser marks used to upset me initially, but then I realised that the low scores motivated me work harder. I’ll always be thankful to Remo sir for the dancer that I’ve become today,” says the actor, who learned many dance forms such as Salsa, Bollywood, contemporary and Zumba.
All praise for Remo, Karan considers him his ‘guru’. “You always don’t need a personal guru; you may also have a distant one. Remo sir is that distant guru to me who continues to inspire me at every stage. I have immense love and respect for him,” adds Karan, who recently had a small reunion with Remo on the sets of his ongoing reality show Nach Baliye 8.
