My nachaniya role not inspired by Bipasha: Shweta Tiwari
Although their looks are similar, actor Shweta Tiwari says her character of a dancer in her new show is not inspired by Basu’s role in Omkara.
Last seen in the serial Parvarrish — Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi, actor Shweta Tiwari had taken a break from work post her wedding to actor Abhinav Kohli in 2013. Now, the actor is glad to return to the small screen in a new daily soap, and is excited to play the role of a dancer.
Bipasha Basu in Omkara
While her look in the show instantly reminds one of Bipasha Basu’s character from Omkara (2006), Shweta claims there are no similarities whatsoever. "It isn’t inspired by anyone or any character. When people give you attention, you automatically feel sexy," says Shweta, adding, "When the makers called me with the offer, I didn’t want to take anything up. But after I learnt more about the role, I jumped at the part. I will be essaying the role of a Bihari nachaniya (dancer), who dances at public events and weddings. And the bahubalis in the show are crazy about this woman. I don’t think anybody has done such a role on TV before."

Over the past year, Shweta did cameos and appeared in comedy shows as she was taking it easy. "After my wedding, I wanted to take time off from work and be with my family. My daughter (from her previous marriage to Raja Chaudhary) has grown up, and she has male friends, which made me anxious. I was about to die when I heard about them (boys). It’s a typical reaction for any mother of a teenager," she laughs and adds that she enjoyed taking care of her house in the interim, but is looking forward to people’s reaction to her character.
