“We all want to see someone new and we don’t want to re-hash something that’s already out there. So, while searching for new talent, I look at what people really want,” says the 52-year-old, who is currently busy co-judging the second season of The X Factor USA with singers Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and record producer LA Reid. “This season is going to be big, more extreme and more exciting,” he says about the show that airs on the BIG CBS network here.

During the shortlisting sessions for the season, Cowell infamously said that Spears, 30, is ‘mean as a judge’. Ask him about the same and he still agrees. “She really brings in the element of fear on the show,” he says, adding, “She is not just saying that to get a cheque, but she actually wants to show people that she can mentor and judge people well.”
