Sanjeev Kapoor to launch TV channel

Years after his popular show Khaana Khazana, chef Sanjeev Kapoor is now starting his own cookery channel and has even been approached by top production companies for ‘special’ cookery shows.

, on Zee TV for 17 years without a break, master chef Sanjeev Kapoor will soon be launching a TV channel, that will run various programmes including a wide range of cookery shows.

When asked, he confirms, “Yes, I am working on my TV channel, but it would be premature to mention the name at this stage. The procedure for launching a channel in our country is a bit tedious and time-consuming. It involves loads of paperwork and monetary investment in a certain format,” he says, adding, “I’ve been working on it for a while now. It should see the light of day very soon; maybe early or mid next year; it depends on when we complete the necessary procedures. Till then, I wouldn’t like to discuss more details about this business venture.”

Apparently, top production companies have approached the chef with innovative show concepts, largely revolving around cookery, including BBC Worldwide that produces shows for various lifestyle and Hindi General Entertainment Channels. Kapoor says, “Unless we arrive at a bound contract, I’d not like to mention names but it’s correct that several big and a few small but credible production companies have approached me with all kinds of lifestyle concepts and a lot of them revolve around cooking.”
