Sharon Stone to play US vice president in Agent X

The Hollywood actress will play Natalie Maccabee, a widow who decides to enter politics after the death of her husband, a candidate for a seat in the Senate in Agent X, a political drama.

The Hollywood actress will play Natalie Maccabee, a widow who decides to enter politics after the death of her husband, a candidate for a seat in the Senate.

After rapidly rising through the ranks, she becomes the United States' first female vice president. The role, as she learns, comes with a secret duty: protecting the Constitution during a period of major crisis. Her chief steward aids her in this mission, along with a mysterious character known as Agent X.

The series will be penned by William Blake Herron, a screenwriter known in Hollywood for his contributions to The Bourne Identity.

Since her big break in the 1990s after "Basic Instinct," Sharon Stone has appeared in dozens of films but only in minor roles on TV. The actress's most recent TV appearance was in a four-episode story arc on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in 2010.
