My mom Roda is like a coconut — though hard from the outside, but soft from the inside. She’s a 70-year-old, but her zest and enthusiasm makes her seem like a 17-year-old. Her willpower is exemplary. She has so much life in her even today, and that’s what I like about her. She gets along well with my friends and even my brother’s (Bakhtiyaar) friends.

And she always enables me to look at the positive side. One of the many things I love about my mother is her habit of giving me a greeting card on every occasion. She gave me a card even when I was leaving to participate in Bigg Boss 6. That was a touching moment for me, as for the first time I was going to be in a place where I couldn’t call her, as I have the habit of talking to her daily. What I dislike about her is that she still thinks I haven’t grown up and treats me like a baby.

When I was in standard 10, my family shifted to Mumbai from my hometown, Navsari, in Surat. But I had to stay back as I had to finish my studies. When I met my mom (Kiran) after almost a year, she hugged me and I felt unconditional love. I was very emotional that day and it was a special and touching moment for me.

The thing I like about my mom is that she is very supportive and cute, like an innocent kid. She’s also the best cook in the world. And the thing I dislike is that whenever I fight with my younger brother, Nirav, she supports him, which is unfair.

A moment that I will never forget is when I left Bengaluru to come to Mumbai to begin my career. My mother (Poonam) is a strong woman, and I have never seen her cry. That day was the first time I saw her cry and get emotional at the airport. What I like about my mom is her confidence, strength and clarity in making decisions. But I dislike the fact that she gets angry with me and shouts quite often. Also, she doesn’t like anything that I buy for her. In fact, she prefers that we go shopping together.
