Delhi polls: EC announces final voter turnout data as AAP claims ‘delay’
Updated on Feb 24, 2020 08:13 am IST
The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi revealed the final voter turnout data of the recent Assembly elections on Sunday. A day after the national capital voted to elect its representatives for the state Assembly, CEO Ranbir Singh announced that 62.59% of registered voters had exercised their franchise. This was lower than the previous Assembly polls in 2015, but higher than the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The election officials also denied that there was an inordinate delay in declaration of the voting figures as alleged by the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party. They also dismissed claims of EVM tampering, claiming that the transportation of reserve EVMs had sparked rumours.
