HT Take: What is the way forward for Goa?
Updated on Mar 11, 2017 07:57 pm IST
The result in Goa has been disappointing for the Bhartiya Janata Party. In a house of 40, BJP has won 13 seats as against 17 seats won by the Congress. The Catholics had shifted towards the BJP in the past because of illegal mining, which was rampant under the Congress rule. They placed their trust in Manohar Parrikar. But in 2017, the Catholics deserted the BJP. Also, Subhash Veligkar, a powerful man within the RSS, pulled back support from the BJP over the medium of instruction in schools issue. As a result, Goa is now left with a hung assembly.
