A political war of words continues over the recent spate of shootings in the nation capital near sites of protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, and a proposed National Register of Citizens. Lok Sabha member and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arjun Singh said that the shootings were carried out by 'misguided youth' who were expressing the concern felt by India's majority community. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena Parliamentarian Sanjay Raut claimed that it was the government's mindset which was creating such an atmosphere in the country.
